Curry Leaves
Cooking Time: 20 - 25 Minutes
Method
Marinate the fish with the above mentioned ingredients and keep aside for 20 to 25 minutes
Pour 2 table spoon coconut oil to a pan and shallow fry the fish and keep aside
To a kadai or an earthen pot add 2 table spoon coconut oil and add cardamom, cloves and cinnamon stick
Saute for a minute and add crushed ginger, garlic and green chilly
Saute for a good 3 to 4 minutes and add sliced onion
Once the onion becomes soft add 1 chopped tomato and salt
Saute till the tomato cooks wells and gets mushy
Now add the thin coconut milk and let it boil well
Add the fried fish pieces and cover and cook in low flame for 6 to 8 minutes
Add the other tomato, curry leaves and pepper powder
Combine well and let it boil for a minute or two (Do not use the spatula. Just stir the whole pot and combine the tomatoes to the gravy. Using spatula might break the fish)
Add thick coconut milk and give a quick stir and switch off the flame
Serve hot with appam, idiappam, bread or ghee rice
Note:
Adjust the spic levels accordingly
You can use black/white pomfret or any other fish of your choice
Very nice... but i think before ading thin coconut milk we can add fried fish.. it gives nicer taste to the curry
ReplyDeleteDear Dany
DeleteThank you for taking the time to comment here and well as you said you can add the fried fish to the onion gravy before adding thin coconut milk. But the reason i added it after boiling the thin coconut milk is that the fish tends to break fast. So i did not want to take any chances.
Do try out the dish and let me know how it was.
Thanks & Regards
Anjali
