Spicy Ammini Kozhukkatta / Spicy Rice Balls

Cute and small kozhukkatta for today`s tea
Ingredients:

For Dough:
Roasted Rice Flour:  1 cup
Fresh grated coconut: ½  cup
Cumin/Jeera: ½ Tea Spoon
Water: 1 ¼ Cup
Oil: 1 Table Spoon
Salt
For Spice Powder:
Pottu Kadala/Roasted Gram: 1 Table Spoon
Uzhunnu Parippu/Urad Dal: 1 Table Spoon
Dry Red Chilly: 5 - 6
Whole Pepper : ½ Tea Spoon
Fresh grated coconut: ½ Cup
Salt
For Seasoning:
Oil: 1 Table Spoon
Mustard Seeds: ½ Tea Spoon
Curry Leaves: Few

Cooking Time: 25 Minutes
Method

Pour water to a pan and let it boil
Crush the grated coconut and jeera
Add the crushed coconut mix to the rice flour and combine
When the water boils add salt and a table spoon of oil and simmer the flame
Add the rice flour mix to the water and combine well
Let it cool down well and then knead well to form a smooth dough
Make small lemon sized balls out of the dough and place it in a steamer and cook it for a good 8 to 10 minutes
In the mean time make the spice powder
Dry roast pottu kadala, uzhunnu parippu, dried red chillies and pepper for 3 to 4 minutes
Add the grated coconut and fry until light brown in color
Once it cools down add some salt and grind it to a coarse powder
For tempering
Heat oil in a kadai and add mustards seeds
Once it finishes popping add curry leaves and the spice powder
Combine well and add the steamed kozhukkata
Coat the kozhukkatta well in the spice powder
Serve hot with a cup of tea or coffee
 
Note:
Adjust the spic levels accordingly
